These are my personal pages, somewhat autobiographical, something of a soap-box where I can talk about things, something of a blog. Here I discuss a variety of issues, often controversial or unpleasant ones such as homelessness. I hope to provide interesting and thought-provoking material. Some of it may seem depressing, but hiding from some unpleasantness doesn't make it go away. I believe an awareness of problems is a step towards solving them - and ultimately, that solving problems is better than hiding them from view.
I have some pages devoted to more uplifting topics such as poetry. One of my favorite poets is Rabindranath Tagore. One of my favorite poems is the Rubaiyat, by Omar Khayyam. There are many other favorites that I'll add as time permits.
There is a section on Russian music, with the lyrics to some favorite songs. Those lyrics are in Russian. I've also added some sound files in the ogg format for a few of these songs not restricted by copyright.
I have a few pages of rants, which is a blog of more or less reasonable opinions that others might share. I like to call this blog "Random Musings," but in fact it's mostly rants. Then there are my crank pages, in which my opinions are most likely wrong, but certainly well off the beaten track.
The Linux blog contains my thoughts about Linux - the philosophy behind it, the benefits and costs of using it, particular notes on how to use it (also technical in nature), and so on. Feel free to ignore this blog. It's not for everyone.
There are pages about technical topics I find fascinating. Perhaps I should get out more. These cover a mix of topics that are more technical or scientific in nature - and thus, the sort of thing many people would prefer not to see. Keeping them tucked away in one spot will help you avoid them if you wish. I cover more controversial technical topics at the Fringe pages.
It seems to me that every Website is "under construction", so perhaps mentioning it is unnecessary. At least I'm not using one of those animated .GIF's showing a construction worker with a shovel. However, I want to say that I am likely to make frequent changes, which might sometimes move or delete something you wanted to keep. I'll try to limit my changes to additions, but in some cases it is necessary to delete. One example is the "Jargon File" by Eric S. Raymond, a fine and entertaining glossary of computer-related words along with interesting anecdotes, historical information, and comments. I had mirrored that file here, but there were too many broken links. Therefore, I deleted it from here, and refer you to his Website.
